My mind is unshackled, my heart is free,
I will not let negative thoughts impede me;
Nothing and no one will keep me asunder,
Nor my happiness and success will they plunder!
The mind is a delicate and powerful tool,
One must use it right, and not just in school!
The direction in which it’s allowed to stray
Will determine your life, come what may.
If we allow our minds to be shackled,
We will always be limited, and often baffled!
Afraid to stand up and follow our dream,
To be a leader, rather than part of the team!
We must first determine that no one but us
Can decide what we should do or what we must!
Use independence of thought that we own,
And intelligently and properly set our own tone!
First let’s consider the gifts that we have,
From the One who created us with His Love;
The gift of free will, intelligence and freedom of thought,
The tools that we need to live as we ought.
To begin, belief in oneself is a must,
For it is the foundation of being able to trust
In the choices we make and decisions that give
Satisfaction and Happiness to the lives that we live.
Of course it can never be all about one,
For we do not exist in a vacuum.
So surround ourselves with those who believe
That each one of us has the right to achieve!
Let one’s support circle be people who share
One’s beliefs and character and ability to care.
People who encourage one to attain one’s dreams,
And are proud and happy when one’s success is on stream.
As the mind is unshackled, so the heart must be free,
Free of anything that exudes negativity.
For we know that a happy heart brings a happy mind,
To value the power in one to find.
So let us unshackle our mind and our heart,
And on our own journey let us start,
Believe in ourselves, not what others decide,
But what our minds tell us, what we trust inside.
Of course we must ensure our choices informed,
With purpose, direction and a goal to transform
In a positive way the impact we make,
Both for ourselves and society’s sake.
