As the Sun recedes, and blue skies turn grey, And twilight puts end to another day, The hustle and bustle gives way to calm, A peaceful quiet extends its arm. A gentle breeze caresses the trees, Bidding them good evening, if you please! The Morning Glories go to bed, While the night bloomers begin to raise their head. The chirping crickets start to sing, While the birds tuck in to begin sleeping! Throughout the night the orchestra plays, A medley of sounds that truly amaze. As darkness takes over and nightfall is here, And stillness blankets everywhere, The nocturnal creatures take their turn, While their diurnal fellows simply adjourn. The quietest whisper punctuates the air, The slightest sound is easy to hear, As the wind rustles gently through the leaves, And dew droplets fall softly from the eves. Slowly and gradually darkness wanes, As Light starts piercing the dark again, Dawn draws the curtain on a bold new day, It’s morning again, let’s be on our way! For, the hustle and bustle is back in full sway, The skies are blue again, not grey! The nocturnal orchestra is quiet, instead, The sounds of activity are filling one’s head! A day full of hustle, and bustle and all, Gives way to twilight and to nightfall, When once again blue skies turns into grey, To mark the end of another day. © Copyright by The Poet Way
